Parks & Recreation

Keeping Greenfield active and outside!

The small town of Greenfield provides many outdoor

recreational areas for its size.

Here are our outdoor spaces:

The City Park offers shelter houses, playground equipment, basketball hoops, large open grass area, and plenty of shade.

Southside Park includes playground equipment and a large open grass area for free play.

The City Pool is open during the summer offering open swim, a high dive board, and rock wall.

Purdy Sports Complex includes baseball, softball & soccer fields that are open to the community when league ball is not in play. You can also enjoy the walking trails that wind through the sports fields.

Our small lakes are no wake and prohibit gas motors, which makes the perfect setting for peaceful fishing or a float by kayak, paddle boat or even a small sailboat. There are miles of walking trails between the two lakes that offer prairie and agricultural views.

Lake Greenfield offers shelter houses, playground equipment, sand volleyball court and a hard surface 2-mile walking trail around the lake.

Nodaway Lake offers lots of little nooks for you to settle into while you fish, picnic or take a moment to relax and sit in nature. You may also camp at this lake. Camping at Nodaway Lake is on a first come, first serve basis, no reservations. Electric hook ups are available, and some sites have level gravel pads while some are grass. The campgrounds include a playground, shower house and large shelter house. No full hook-ups are available and there is no dumping station on site (though one is available in town near the car wash).

The Sidey Nature Area is managed by the Adair County Conservation Office and abuts the south side of Nodaway Lake. These trails offer light to moderate hiking in a tree filled setting with plenty of birds and wildlife to view.
