Adair County Health System provides medical care to the community with a 24-bed hospital, emergency and trauma services, acute medical-surgical and outpatient specialty clinics. The Adair County Medical Clinic located at the hospital complex is part of a network of ACHS clinics, Adair County Public Health, Senior Life Solutions, Physical Therapy and various specilty clinics and rehab programs. Adair County Memorial Hospital is a critical access hospital and is an affiliate of Mercy One medical of Des Moines.
The Greenfield Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center provides residential elderly services from assisted living to skilled nursing. Independent senior housing is available at Greenfield Senior Housing and Homestead Cooperative.
The Adair County Health and Fitness Center offers programming and workout facilities for its members. Guest passes are also available. The center coordinates community youth sports programs and sits adjacent to the Purdy Sports Complex.
Farmers Markets on the town square every Thursday throughout the summer season provide fresh produce, baked goods, and craft items. The nearby Wallace Country Life Center hosts garden workshops, farm to table type meals, as well as fruits, vegetables and herbs grown on the farm. Bridgewater Farms is nearby and offers certified organic produce and a community supported agriculture (CSA) program.
Greenfield provides ample opportunities for active recreation: A paved two-mile lakeside walking trail, two disc golf courses and playground equipment at Lake Greenfield. Nine miles of natural trails at Nodaway Lake. Baseball, softball and soccer fields as well as rock trails at the Purdy Sports Complex. A municipal outdoor swimming pool (seasonal) and two city parks. A nine-hole golf course at the Greenfield Golf & Country Club.
