Organizations

Greenfield is a town built by its people. A wide variety of civic and religious organizations provide abundant and rewarding opportunities for community involvement.

The Lions Club, and PEO Sisterhood have chapters in Greenfield and there is an active Masonic Lodge.

Area attractions and historic sites have auxiliaries, foundations, and citizen governing boards, as do Adair County Health Services and the Greenfield Public Library. There are clubs for crafters, gardeners, readers, and hunters. Trees Forever keeps Greenfield green, and Greenfield Chamber/Main Street & Development offers opportunities to be involved in the area’s community development.

The City of Greenfield and surrounding communities are served by volunteer fire departments and the Adair County Sheriff is aided by a volunteer reserve force.

Kids will find plenty to learn and do through Boy & Girl Scouts, and the highest rate of 4-H participation in Iowa. The Nodaway Valley Booster Club supports school activities.

Ag producer groups actively support the area’s ag economy, the American Legion and VFW support and honor veterans, and area churches provide a wide range of faith-based service and socialization opportunities.
