Bar*2*Barbara this weekend!

Bar*2*Barbara – a quest to cure Huntington’s Disease... one dare at a time!  The event was created by Sara Burke (Smith) in honor of her mother.  Sara grew up in Greenfield but returns from Arizona every July to put on this fundraising event.  Proceeds from the event go Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) to help fund research.  Go to   to read more about Sara’s story and creation of this event.

National Accreditation Achieved!

IOWA Unplugged event coming together

Activities during IOWA Unplugged, the only National Day of Unplugging event in Iowa encourages individuals to unplug from their digital devices i.e. computers, internet, cell phones, games boxes, etc. to connect with the world around them.  Activities during IOWA Unplugged are designed to help you Relax, Unwind and Have Fun!

  Greenfield Chamber/Main Street was awarded grant funds from Travel Iowa to host IOWA Unplugged on the National Day of Unplugging March 7-8, 2014.     The National Day of Unplugging is all about disconnecting from electronic devices and our hectic schedules to slow life down, relax and connect with the inner you.  Activities during this event will focus on bringing families and individuals together to embrace fun and relaxing experiences without the need of electronic devices.    We are asking the community to partner with us to host this event in Greenfield and showcase all that we have t

Fall Fun with Chamber/Main Street

Community Coffees – Starting October 4th  Chamber/Main Street is partnering with businesses to host Community Coffees on the first Friday of every month from 10-11am.  Chamber/Main Street will provide a 30-cup percolator, coffee, cups and promote the event to our newsletter and to our email contact list.  The hosting business is responsible for providing treats and what it takes to serve them (napkins, plates, etc.), promoting their coffee date to their customers and the community, preparing the coffee and hosting attendees during the event.  The Adair County Free Press wil

Farm Bureau Cook-Out Contest - July 4th

     Calling contestants to compete in the 50th year of the Iowa Farm Bureau cookout contest
     The Adair County Farm Bureau cookout contest will take place on Thursday, July 4 during the Amazing American Heroes 4th of July Celebration in Greenfield on the Town Square. 
     The contest will get underway with registration and set-up beginning at 12noon, cooking starting at 1:00 p.m. and judging beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Local barbecue enthusiasts will compete to win prizes and the right to compete in the 50th Annual Iowa Farm Bureau cookout contest at the Iowa State Fair.

Greenfield Chamber Main Street receives National Accrediation

Greenfield Chamber/Main Street has spent the year re-organizing and fine tuning its goals and objectives.    Main Street, as it relates to historic commercial district development, is a copyrighted and trademarked process.  It is owned by the National Main Street Center, Inc.  Main Street Iowa, by contractual agreement, is responsible for monitoring the process in Iowa.  All Main Street Iowa communities, by virtue of their annual membership with the National Main Street Center, Inc.

Farmers Market Plans are Underway

The Greenfield Chamber/Main Street Promotions Committee is working on this summer’s Farmers Markets.     A Vendor Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 11 to discuss Market Rules and take Vendor Sign-up.  Other items being discussed will be whether to State Certify the market or not and market start and end times.  Typically the markets are hosted on the courthouse yard in the center of the Historic Town Square on Thursdays from 3-6pm.  People interested in vending at the Greenfield Farmers Market are encouraged to attend.  Those who are not be able to attend should contact the office so
